The Year So Far...

LPDGC's 2013 Ace Race Participants

It has been a great year for disc golf so far! The Longs Peak Disc Golf Club hosted it's first ever Discraft Ace Race which was a total blast! We were treated to cleverly shortened holes, holes with multiple baskets and a day of well organized fun! A late congratulations to Frank B. who put the whole thing together and won it all with a couple of aces! My buddy Seth P. bagged his first ever ace during the tourney too! It was a fantastic day and we're looking forward to doing it bigger and better next year!

We had almost a full field for this year's Lunacy which was incredible! This included a great turnout for the Women and Recreational Division! Amateur players packs were amazing and included a tournament stamped CFR disc from Innova, tournament shirts provided by Play It Again Sports Longmont and Vibram donated marker discs and keychains! Myself and Chris Martin (owner of PIAS Longmont) manned a tent stock full of awesome, discounted plastic and hooked players up with great deals all day.

At the end of the day we were treated to (how many?!) rings of fire, a CTP for the unclaimed ace pool and an awesome awards ceremony. The LPDGC along with PIAS Longmont, Vibram and Top Card all contributed amazing prizes that allowed awards to go WAY deep in the field! I placed 7th in the Intermediate Division after coming back from 13th and was awarded a LPDGC stamped Cryztal Buzzz!

The courses were extremely well thought out and amped up for an extra challenge. The out of bounds lines and mandatories added extra levels of difficulty and were extremely well marked. Thanks LPDGC, PIAS Longmont, Vibram, SeanC Photography and Top Card for making it such a memorable event! I'm sure next year will be even better. There will definitely be some Left Hand Discs prizes up for grabs in Lunacy VI which, we've been told, will finally be a PDGA sanctioned event!

John Etten who won the Recreational Division with a 129.
Mandy Norris who won the Women's Division with a 147
