Past Dyes

Dyes are listed in order with the most recent on top.

Innova Star Valkyrie for a friend, local thrower Greg H.

Latitude 64 Gold Fury for the bag. The lightest color is the original color of the disc. Really simple and really fun dye that really pops in the sunlight.

Latitude 64 Moonshine Havoc for the bag. Had a little problem with the remask, but colors are bright and mistakes are faint.

The Moonshine Havoc in Glow Mode. Honestly couldn't believe my camera was able to take this shot.

Striker and Stiletto, prototypes for a new dyeing technique

Custom for a local thrower, Innova Blizzard Beast

Homage paid to some of my favorite ghosts on an unstamped Legacy Icon Ghost

Pair of Lat64 Gold Bolts for local State Farm Agent Ben Parsons

Latitude 64 Gold Trident for the bag.

Latitude 64 Gold Pain for the bag.

Prize donation for the 2013 FCDGC Halloween Glow Tourney held at Cache La Poudre DGC.

Legacy Pinnacle Ghost First Run. Dye is on the underside of the flight plate.

The first official Team Left Hand Discs dyes! Mine at the bottom demonstrates the importance of experimentation. It was blue, like the others, until I tried to dip the yellow in the Colorado C without a re-masking. I was still able to salvage the disc, a max weight Latitude 64 Gold Line Striker that will be in my bag now for a long time to come! Ryan's disc is a Legacy Icon Ghost and Jimmie's is an Innova Star Gator.

I had this disc in a silent auction at Lunacy 2013, but had no takers. I think it was because I had it with the white dragon (below). But it seems that it was meant to come back home with me to be completed, because now I may have to keep it...

Another that was supposed to be in the silent auction at Lunacy 2013. As with all my dyes I took the time to do it right and it sure paid off! Backstamped Innova Star Boss.

Left Hand Discs MVP Shock. Why not? :)

Colorado proud! Lat64 Gold Havoc

Lat64 Gold Havoc

Lat64 Gold Havoc
This MVP Neutron Shock is a chain killer, Bond style!

7th place in Disc Golf Course Review's annual dyeing contest, Okthrowberfest! This is a Latitude 64 Gold Halo. Both this and the "Don't Open" disc below are now wall art!

9th place in Disc Golf Course Review's annual dyeing contest, Okthrowberfest! This Latitude 64 Gold Mace is almost completely hand painted, with the exception of the sides and middle of the letters.

Opto Trident. After Discraft discontinued their "Reaper" mold years ago I have been buying all the used ones I can, but they're always either too beat in or right on that line for the use I had wanted. After discovering the Trident I knew my search was over and had to do an epic dye. What's more epic than Poseidon with a big ol' trident on my Trident? I'll show you after I dye the white Gold Line Trident I just acquired.

Gold Line Mace. I used black dye, but pulled the disc out in about half the time I normally let them dip for and it created a really complimentary dark blue. The disc looks incredible in the air.
I did these for the Longs Peak Disc Golf Club's 2013 league prizes. They were really well received and I can't wait to do something even better in 2014 with all the new skills I've gained since!

Gold Line Halo sold at Play it Again Sports in Longmont. Really love those new Jacquard colors.
Gold Line Bolt sold at Play it Again Sports in Longmont. The shaving cream bed I used on this one "eroded" (not sure if that's the right word, but it serves the purpose) more than the beds normally do which caused the stretch on the C. I really thought it came out well and it'll be impossible to replicate.
Gold Line Halo sold at Play it Again Sports in Longmont. Though I wish I kept it, 7 color shaving cream dye that really came out tropical.
MVP Shock sold at Play it Again Sports in Longmont
Gold Line Havoc sold at Play it Again Sports in Longmont.
My "signature" driver. Another Gold Bolt that will eventually replace my blue Calvin and Hobbes Bolt below. This is the longest I had ever spent on a dye until I learned how to hand paint. Remasking for each dye went really smooth but I had to be very careful in the middle since even a little overlapping leads to bleeds.

Another Gold Havoc. I bought this disc specifically for this dye just to hang on the wall. Currently working on obtaining the man cave so I can actually get it up there.

Another Gold Havoc. Cool stencil, MONSTER pain in the butt to cut, peel, dip and tie dye. I consider it to be worth it in the end but I'll never do another.
MVP Neutron Tangent. The MVP plastic takes the dye color like a dream, it really pops. I did the tie dye first and couldn't decide what it was missing so I put my name on it instead.

The day I did this dye was the day I got in all the new colors Jacquard added to their iDye Poly line. I had to see what they all looked like so I "Crayola-d" my Latitude 64 Gold Saint. This disc has too much glide for what I need so I now use it as a color tester when I'm painting with dye and acetone. I'll definitely post a picture when the back is covered with different colored streaks of dye.

It's hard to see in the picture but on this Latitude 64 Opto Havoc the stamp glimmers green and looks exactly like the number in the Matrix. Morpheus's tie fit right into the V after I removed the top of the hot stamp. Since the Havoc is my shaped shot disc, I almost stenciled in "Hyzer or Anhyzer" after you have a choice. A disc golf version of the red or blue pill.
My main driver, a Latitude 64 Gold Bolt. This stencil just always makes me happy, which helps the most if I'm coming off a bad hole. Otherwise I just love looking at it.
My water disc, a 136g Innova Blizzard Destroyer. The disc was just so pink that it couldn't have been anything else other than this or the Bubbleyum logo.
Night Fury on a First Run Latitude 64 Opto Fury.
Probably my favorite stencil on my favorite disc, a Latitude 64 Gold Mace. Again I should have made the stencil bigger but it definitely makes this disc easier to find. I usually get more comments on this dye than any of my others.

Shaving cream and stencil on a Innova Champion Tern. Shaving cream doesn't really take on Champion (or similar) plastic, but I had planned on that for this disc. The glitter inside the plastic was so even that I knew I had to do something spacey. Original idea was the Delorean from Back to the Future, but I went for a layered black hole instead. The 2nd layer came out too dark, but it may fade with enough sun exposure.

My first dip/shaving cream combo dye on another Gold Line Havoc. It came out exactly the way I wanted, except I immediately regretted not having the stencil extend all the way to the edges of the disc. I have remade my stencil and plan to dye it again soon.

My first color stencil on a Latitude 64 Gold Line Havoc. Kind of a disaster as this is still one of my favorite discs but I am working on a re-dye to improve on it a little bit. The black line around the Colorado C I dyed later to cover up the bleeds I had gotten between the colors on the blue dip. Hadn't thought to wait to cut the design until the blue was already dyed. Neat stencil though, I'm sure I'll end up doing it again.

Last of my first three tie dyes, the color really came through on the blue. Even the yellow looks like yellow, I had anticipated the disc darkening and having a green tint instead. Yellow is better!

Same story as the Flick below, except the orange plastic killed the colors of the dye much more than the blue or pink plastic.
One of the first three shaving cream dyes I did after receiving my first packets of colored dye in the mail. Wasn't sure how the colors would take on a pink disc but they really popped!

Same story as below, just with an awesome foil looking Gold Halo this time.

Not much of a video gamer, but I got hooked on Halo long ago. Had to do Master Chief on my Latitude 64 Opto Halo.

Love Calvin and Hobbes, Latitude 64 Gold Fury

I've been a goaltender almost all my life, and since this Latitude 64 Opto Bolt has saved my butt more times than I can count I had to do it.

This is my Latitude 64 Opto Pain, which obviously leads to anger which leads to suffering...I figured the only way to cure it was with Yoda and the "Dark Side." It flashes green as it flies, really a neat effect.

This was my second attempt, a day after my first. I didn't mean to completely remove the stamp so I re-dyed what I had originally wanted. I remember when Destroyers first came out in Star plastic. The nerd in me forced a Star Destroyer in my bag before I knew what was happening.

My first dye! This was an old Innova Star Wraith I've had forever. The black dye came about a month before the color. The stencil turned out well, there are a couple of bleeds and I didn't go for near the detail I had stenciled out. Great first canvas though, as I don't throw it any more and it's white.

  1. Nice dye jobs! I've just gotten into the sport for like a month and already becoming a disc hoarder. Dyed 5 of my discs already with idye poly and getting better with each try, but nothing as intricate as yours. Incidentally, I bought womens raspberry scented shaving cream and my bag smells delicious. I put my putter up to my nose like the snl superstar lady after every hole, haha. Keep up the good work!
