Updated/Coming Soon

Just a quick announcement-

The Local Courses page has been updated and I'm working on getting more quick links for the larger courses in the area. Along with that you'll see that the page no longer has "Events" in the title.

Look for the new standalone Events page (coming soon) that will have events listed for the full year (as they are announced) with exact dates and links.

Centennial Saturday!

This Saturday, Nov. 16th, is the Longmont stop for the disc golf tour known as Winter Warriors. The series stops at a different course each week and is done for charity! Check out the full info here and hope to see you out there!

An Adaptive Hunter

After a long time searching for a good alternative for my old love, the discontinued Discraft Reaper, I found the Latitude 64 Trident. I carry two, an Opto and a Gold for their varying stability and after the great turnout of my Opto Trident dye, I had to do something to match it. Here's the result; again with pictures again step by step (although I did miss a few pictures since I'm not in the habit of taking them as I go).

With all those legs, this thing will hunt down the chains and never let them go!

Grow an Orange

I've had some questions lately about how the dye process works. I am working on a "How To" page but it's still a long way off. In the meantime here's my latest dye step by step:

Latitude 64 Pain, nice and pearly around the borders. Great over-stable mid!
Stamp removed with acetone
Vinyl applied, first (darkest) layer already cut out for shading
First dip done, second dip cut out of the stencil ready to go
Fully grown orange, ready to throw!
The disc looks a lot darker in the picture but the original pearly-ness of the plastic still shows throw and the orange is visible through the second dip. Super simple dye but it's fun and will look great in the air.

Holy Confusing New Layout Batman!

For anyone who plays Edora up in Fort Collins, beware! There is an entirely new layout to the course, some holes are gone and there are new holes to the east of the railroad tracks.

It's great, in my opinion, until hole 16. But I'm not going to spend anytime now writing out a long review... I've got dyes to do! So while I'm working get out there and play; see what you think of the new layout. When you get back, I should have some pictures up of my latest work.

Before heading out though, check out the Noco Disc Golf website here (also available on the links page) for info on the new layout and a map. Trust me, you'll need it.

Been a Couple Days!

Could've used more than one hour on that time change I think. Anyways, to catch up here real quick; I accidentally double booked myself the night of FCDGA's Halloween Glow Tourney. I was still able to donate my disc, help with the set up and play 9 holes before I had to take off. So I'd like to offer a congratulations to the winner of that tourney (whoever you are) and offer to re-post the congrats with a name and a picture if you happen to read this and want the credit. Just email me a picture of yourself with the disc and be sure to include your name and score if possible! Anyways, I'm glad to know that that Champion Beast has found itself a home. On another good note, I see a very bright future for the partnership of the FCDGA and Left Hand Discs!

Now as much as I hate to say it, I haven't found the time to start my next dye project due to my other obligations. The stencil is there, as well as the disc and they're both calling my name. I'm sure I'll have pictures in a few days here. Also on the subject of dyeing I will be unavailable for dyes Thanksgiving week, so if there's anything you want done, get it to me soon!!!

To wrap it up, I was recently drooling at the new release Vibram XLink Glow discs and stumbled upon Steven Dodge's thoughts on how to grow the sport of disc golf. Very interesting reading and a great look at the entire mission! Perhaps Left Hand Discs will even be able to participate some day...
